Ground batteries is a removed colony structure in Master of Orion. They were replaced by Orbital batteries.

Ground Batteries are planet-based beam weapon installations. They contain Heavy Mount and Point Defense versions of your best available beam weapons. Ground Batteries can only be destroyed by orbital bombardment.
